Dear Prospective Students,
The Department of Acting, which started its education life in 2002 and was renewed in 2019 under the name of Department of Theatre, is an undergraduate programme in which practical and theoretical courses feed each other, dance and movement studies are predominant, and the theoretical and practical data of the field of performance research are fed.
Our main aim is to train actors who are open to multi-faceted creative processes, who can think freely, who can adapt to changing social and economic conditions and who can continue to produce under these conditions. We are working to realise this goal with our young, dynamic, strong academic staff who are nourished by intercultural and interdisciplinary projects and who are eager to share their knowledge with you.
The mission of our department is to create a laboratory where minds who can analyse the historical and theoretical data of theatre, who can freely produce ideas with the data they obtain, who can conduct versatile research while transforming their thoughts into a scientific or artistic expression, who are prone to critical thinking and interdisciplinary work can produce together.
Our four-year undergraduate programme includes courses such as Acting, Improvisation, Dance, Movement, Performance, Voice Training, Speech Training, Creation Workshop, Performance, Theatre History and Theory, Play Analysis, Turkish Theatre.
Our curriculum, which is prepared with a perspective that is open to renewal and development by giving equal importance to practical and theoretical courses, aims to provide the necessary equipment for our graduates to continue their postgraduate education as well as to train them as contemporary theatre people.
The curriculum, which is based on contemporary acting methods, physical expression and theoretical knowledge, is regularly updated and adapted to the conditions of the age. We want to expand your perspective on acting by going beyond conservative boundaries with our acting studies, where we open space for contemporary trends without being limited to basic acting methods.
Based on the fact that thinking and producing based on the body is one of the indispensable elements of the theatrical creation process, we enable the actor to comprehend and transform the interaction of the actor with the space in the context of space and space studies in detail.
In the theoretical courses, we aim to enable you to look at the theatre from a much deeper perspective and gain a critical perspective with the historical / theoretical relations and analysis techniques we establish between social sciences and other art branches.
In your team and individual creation processes, we encourage you to go beyond the historical, social, cultural principles and understandings of art that have been determined until today and to gain the ability to freely transform your feelings and thoughts into production under all conditions.
In addition to the courses you will take in our curriculum, we use all our facilities to bring you together with national and international workshops, seminars, theatre, dance and performance performances. With these comprehensive activities, we want to ensure that you can continuously improve yourself, express yourself effectively in different places and conditions, and meet the sector at an early stage. We will be very happy to be with you in this busy yet enjoyable four-year journey.
We wish you all success in advance...
